“Quaker Guide to Leaving the Military” discussion & potluck, Oct. 19

The Peace Center is reigniting a series of community conversations on compelling topics. Come to Richmond Friends Meeting on October 19 from 6 - 8:30 pm to share supper, listen to the program, and discuss.

Our first listen is A Quaker Guide to Leaving the Military podcast about and by the people of Quaker House. This episode follows an active-duty soldier who experiences a sudden moral awakening that leaves him trapped inside the military machine he can no longer answer to. Go inside the barracks to discover the Quakers who are helping him get out.

Learning about the lifeline that Quaker House provides will prepare us all to spread the word about the upcoming Conscientious Objection workshop on Saturday, Nov. 14.

RSVP by October 18 at rvapeace@gmail.com. Plan to bring a dish to share, listen, learn, and discuss.

About Quaker House and the GI Rights Hotline

Quaker House talks with over 400 people a month who call the GI Rights Hotline (1-877-447-4487) about the situation they find themselves in after or while serving in the military. The services are open to family as well as enlisted service members. For more than 55 years, Quaker House has been on the front lines facing the military-industrial complex to achieve a world of peace, saying, “Yes to the Troops and No to the Wars.”
