Seema Sked is the Executive Director Assistant.
She is a Muslim immigrant from Pakistan, who’s lived in Richmond nearly her whole life. She is local activist & community organizer, focused on uplifting the Muslim immigrant community, as well as other marginalized communities.
She began a grassroots program to fight back against the Muslim & African Bans, & that struggle continues today.
She previously worked for the Peace Center as an Advocacy Coordinator, when she coordinated a teach-in/rally centered around immigrant justice. In her new role, she brings over 25 years of administrative experience, as well as her local community organizing experience with her. She’s worked for a number of non-profit organizations in the past.
She participated in numerous conflict resolution & trauma healing workshops provided by the Peace Center (including HROC - Healing Trauma & Rebuilding Communities), before even working here ! She was also a fellow in the Community Trust Building Fellowship in Initiatives of Change, holds multiple business degrees, with concentration in psychology, & pastry/chocolate certifications.
She & her husband have been married for 23 years & they have a wonderfully spoiled senior, special needs, rescue kitty named Cocoa Cannoli !
