Find out what Virginia’s young people think about American diversity, and opening our nation to people from other parts of the world.
We need additional volunteers to help read and judge entries in the 2017 Peace Essay Contest on May 16. No special expertise is required, beyond being a thoughtful reader.
The theme of this year’s contest is Many People…One Nation. Students were asked to consider how to build understanding and respect for one another among people of different heritages and beliefs. The writing prompt generated a lot of interest among students and teachers, and we have received well over 500 entries.
Date: Tuesday, May 16
Time: Beginning at 3 p.m. (but people can arrive later, as their work schedule allows.)
Place: First Unitarian/Universalist Church, 1000 Blanton Ave.,
We will offer a light dinner for people as they work.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer as a judge, please contact email@example.com. Thank you!
