HROC Basic Workshop, January 30-February 1, 2015

Register for RPEC’s Healing and Rebuilding our Communities Basic Workshop, January 30-February 1

The Healing And Rebuilding Our Communities [HROC] program will offer a 3-day Basic workshop for adults on Friday, January 30 from 6-9, Saturday, January 31 from 9-5 PM and Sunday, February 1 from 9-5 PM. We will hold the training at the Fan Free Clinic, 1010 North Thompson Street, Richmond, VA 23230.

The HROC three-day basic training presents a group based experiential model of healing that focuses on recognizing and understanding extreme trauma and its effects on the individual, family and community. Based equally on trauma theory and in-the-field application, the HROC training engages participants in a process that is both instructive and personally enlightening.

The HROC program was developed in East Africa, as part of the Friends’ African Great Lakes Initiative.  You can learn more about that program and other related efforts here.

Participants will gain skills to help themselves and others through the process of grieving, loss, and the transformation of hurt into healing. Healing from trauma and building peace between groups are deeply connected.  It is not possible to do one without the other. RPEC trainers and educators Santa Sorenson and Ram Bhagat will lead the workshop.

The fee for this session is $175. Partial scholarships are available. To register, or for more information, email name, address and phone number to rpec@rpec.org.
