Richmonders for Peace in Israel and Palestine will show the documentary film, Goal Dreams Sunday, November 16 at Congregation Or Ami, 9400 Huguenot Road. The evening will begin at 6:00 pm with a pot luck supper and the screening. A discussion will follow. Please bring a dish to share.
Goal Dreams is the heartbreaking story of the ups and downs of the Palestinian national soccer team as they prepare for the qualifying rounds of the 2006 World Cup. Made up of Palestinians from around the world, they must overcome the challenges of different cultures and different languages in their search for a national identity.
Jeffrey Saunders is co-producer and co-director of Goal Dreams. Saunders grew up in Richmond and attended Congregation Or Ami where his bar mitzvah was celebrated.

Goal Dreams is the first showing in a film series to be shown locally over the next four months. Additional films, dates and locations will be announced in the near future.
The film series is co-sponsored by Richmonders for Peace in Israel and Palestine, the Peace and Social Concerns Committee of Richmond Friends Meeting, and the Richmond Peace Education Center. The mission of the series is to encourage audience members to see and feel the humanity of both ordinary Palestinians and Israelis.
The film series will lead to the Richmond Peace Education Center’s discussion of the book The Lemon Tree authored by Sandy Tolan on March 24 at the Main branch of the Richmond Public Library.
