Teachers, parents and students: The 2015 Peace Essay Contest deadline for entries is April 20, 2015. There’s still plenty of time to enter.
The annual Peace Essay contest sponsored by the Richmond Peace Education Center is open for entries through April 20. The theme for this year’s contest, “Inspiration for a Better World,” is based on a quotation from the Dalai Lama. The prompt asks students to write about what inspires them to make their community and their world a better place. They are asked to include examples from their personal lives or from history and current events to support their ideas.
The contest is open to any elementary, middle, or high school student in Virginia. It offers a top prize of $100 in each of four grade divisions: K-2, 3-5, middle, and high school. Additional cash prizes are also awarded in each division.
More details, entry forms, along with contest rules and a complete description of the writing prompt are available here.
