A Time for Peace: Radio Shorts on WRIR

This year, students from VCU’s School of World Studies have teamed up with the Richmond Peace Education Center and WRIR 97.3 to produce “A Time for Peace,”  a radio show highlighting nonviolent movements throughout history.

Often the stories we hear on the radio are ones of tragedy and injustice. A Time for Peace, instead, shares stories about people around the world working for peace and social justice.

Each short (2 minute) segment features a movement, campaign or individual whose work demonstrates the power of nonviolence.
Each piece is researched, written and recorded by a VCU student from
Dr. Jennifer Garvin-Sanchez’s International Social Justice and Religion, Globalization and Social justice classes.

Tune in weekdays at 9am to become informed and inspired.

Listen to the recording above to hear an example segment describing the meaning of peace, written and recorded by Dr. Garvin-Sanchez.
